Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Stormfront (and probably more)

Stormfront is a World of Warcraft raiding guild on the Thorium Brotherhood(US) server. We ask that our raiders have a few important addons installed and configured, and be proficient in their use.  For details, see Required Addons for Raiding

We utilize DKP for loot distribution and to track contributions to the guild.  Full details can be found in DKP Rules and it is the responsibility of every raider to know them.

We expect our raiders to be familiar with all encounters in current tier content, and to utilize resources such as TankSpot, Icy Veins, Ensidia's site, Wowpedia, etc.  We may post a summary of our strategy variant on our Raid Strat and Discussion forum, and expect our raiders to have read and know that as well.

We utilize Mumble for our voice communication and require all raiders to have it installed and properly configured (this means actually paying attention to and working with the setup wizard to get your levels right - not just installing it seconds before a raid and forcing us to deal with issues that should have been solved ahead of time).  Mumble Setup and Configuration has everthing you need to get going.

Friends & Family

Though primarily a raiding guild, many of us have friends and family that we enjoy gaming with too, even if they don't raid.  We will happily add friends and family to the guild, with just a few basic guidelines:

  • An existing member vouches for them.
  • They understand their actions reflect on the guild.  Our reputation should be improved by the words and actions of our members.  This is a higher standard than just not getting caught being a dick.
  • They understand that in order to raid they will still need to be qualified as ready just as any other raid applicant would be.

After a probationary period, they will be given the rank of "Enlisted"

Guild Ranks

Our guild ranks currently consist of:
MIA
Probie
Enlisted
Raider
Supply Officer
Officer Council

Each rank is defined as follows:

MIA

We haven't seen this member for a long time - months!  That or we think they've been hacked.  If we don't have some clue about where they are and an expectation of thier return, we may remove them from the guild.

Probie

They are fresh to the guild.  We think they'll probably fit in just fine, but haven't had enough experience with them yet to be sure of it.  It'll probably take us several weeks for us to see them online enough, and to get good feedback (and no negative feedback) on them so that we'll feel comfortable making them a full member.

Enlisted

A full member of the guild.  They may be a friends & family member with no desire to raid, but enjoy playing the other aspects of the game with some of our raiders when they aren't raiding.  They may be an aspiring or ex- raider that is for whatever reason not currently fully ready for our raider rank.  An Enlisted member may be able to raid if interested, and if needed for raid composition.  There's no stigma to this rank - it is in fact our main rank.  That said, if focused on raiding and serious about it, then the next rank is what they should work towards.

Raider

A full member, ready and willing to raid at most every opportunity they get.  They are motivated and prepared.  They embody the expectations listed in the first few paragraphs of the page, without exception, *and* work well with each other to overcome each encounter.  You become a raider by mutual consensus of your fellow raiders.  A dissenting opinion regarding someone becoming a raider will be respected, and needs to be offered with a clear remedy for consideration.  The final call on someone becoming a raider will be guided as necesary by the officer council, but is expected to be a group decision.
A raider is expected to be helpful and encouraging to other members wishing to improve their play.
A raider will not act in such a way that they are likely to be considered elitist, rude, etc.  This holds for all members, but is especially expected of raiders.
As well as the out-of-game preparation already mentioned, a raider is expected to have done all the in-game preparation they can, including rep grind gear prep and other readily available pre-raid or raid complementary gear acquisition and enhancement.

Supply Officer

An administrative rank given to a few dedicated members who have taken on the time-consuming task of being responsible for our raid consumables and crafting needs.  They also have the power to invite members' alts into the guild, but should not be expected to invite new people in general, nor perform other non supply oriented tasks.  This isn't a "higher" rank than raider, in a way, but rather a seperate, parallel rank meant simply to identify these members and allow them access to the guild bank areas needed for their "jobs".

Officer Council

The leaders of the guild, though I think of us more as stewards of the guild.  Our goal is to cultivate a fun and successful group of like-minded raiding players and friends, able and excited to see all the content available to us.
